Selera Abah Cafe

I managed to catch up with a dear friend last Wednesday & I know I took way too long to update this. So before it goes further basi, I got to put a halt to whatever I plan for tonight & get over with this one.

I promised Shida the brochures the girls voluntarily collected from our recent vacation in February (you may want to start off with the adventure here). Managed to compile all of them together & only did I discover that we own several duplicate copies. Including the menu served on the Tranzcoastal! :-)

We agreed on a meeting point. Since she stays in a secluded residential in Bangi... ;-), & I in the suburbia of Puchong (woohoo!), Equine Park suited us fine. Without doubt it was really an advantage to me but again, Shida was on leave unlike me who was merely on a break before I punched my card again to fetch the girls from school. A very valid reason, right babe? Hehehe...

Thought of giving an old friend's cafe our maiden visit & it was not a disappointment at all. Selera Abah Cafe might not look like the kopitiam in town. Situated in Bandar Putra Permai which I'm pretty sure many of us including yours truly is very ignorant about. It is without doubt a new developing residential area. Not many entrepeneurs have ventured the many lots offered but Eddie & Ika took the chance anyway. Their cafe stands out from the cocoon of this budding township.

The cafe offers the authentic Johorean Cuisine & I was informed that the briyani there is a must try. Anyhow, we both skipped the signature dish but made a pledge to return for it. We were there at 330pm & had no intention to jeopardise our not so ideal weights for a plate of lamb briyani during teatime! We settled for the noodles instead.

Mee Bandung which according to Shida, the best she ever tasted.

I had this mouth-watering Mee Hailam but Balqis who tagged along & announced earlier she was not eating, claimed the rights of it.

Shida with Balqis & her afternoon tea meal.

We will be back & I promise it will be on a lunch time with empty stomachs. Why not you? The landmark to the cafe is the Pasar Borong Selangor near Equine Park. Take the left turn at the Petronas kiosk. A corner lot next to a clinic.

Now here is the address - 17-1, Jalan BPP 5/3, Bandar Putra Permai, 43300 Seri Kembangan

A pose with an old friend, Eddie in front of his Selera Abah Cafe.

Amongst the foods I copied from the email he sent me. And Eddie.. it still puts me in a puzzling state of mind of how the products from a C appear bigger & clearer in my blog compared to the ones captured from a N. Hehehe...!

A Simple Treat

Still remember Balqis & her teeth extraction episode? No, nothing to worry. She is doing remarkably good. It's no surprise really... That girl inherits the guts from her maternal side ;-)

Well anyway, if not for the help of our dear friend with
kabel besar lengan hehehe... I'm pretty sure Balqis's teeth or should I say tunggul would still be intact and we, like it or not might have to pay through the nose to *YMC.

As an appreciation, we went out for dinner together with Dr. F's family last weekend. It was more like an investment on our side for more unseen future favours. Hahaha! Wink! Wink! Once again, thank you! Jasamu dikenang!

Of course, I won't sign off before sharing the moment ;-)

My girls & Fatin

Balqis & Arif were occupied with the inhouse kids activities.

While waiting for food, Yasmin was rereading one of the 3 books she brought along in her sling bag (serious!) & the moment HB's camera focused on Wardah, she suddenly was in reading mode... Fatin, I believe was busy with a Fun Activity book brought by Wardah.

The girls at this point were hungry. It was a full house in the restaurant that night. However nothing or nobody seemed to bother my Yasmin.

Hafiz was engrossed with the music.

Finally the appetizer arrived & came the 1st stick.

The 2nd helped him/herself.

Yee Sang!

Trying their luck on more shrimps...

We didn't taste even a bite. You know, the last time we ordered, none of my girls really enjoyed it. The parents had to settle with these fried mushrooms instead...

No more pics. Once the main courses served, the camera was left untouched! ;-D

Tarbush Restaurant - Ampang Point

It has been awhile I haven't posted on this label. Most of the time whenever we went out, I either forgot to bring along my camera or too hungry that we straight away attacked what we ordered. Recently however, I managed to snap some photos & able to blog about it.

My mom has been planning for this family dine out for quite some time. Even only with 3 children, to gather all with spouses & kids on a same day, does take time. Not every weekend is available. Finally, last weekend, all of us 3 with spouses, our parents & 7 children ( 2 babies were left at home with our helpers) went to our usual place in Ampand Point - Tarbush Restaurant.

We had always wanted to change the venue but whenever the whole of us meet, automatically this same Lebanese restaurant came to mind. It's closed by to my parents' & we just love the briyani especially the lamb served. These are what we ordered that day.

Tarbush Salad - The specialty is of course its yogurt dressing

Lamb Chop

Tiger Prawn Briyani - 1st time on our table & we loved it

Chicken Briyani

Pita Bread - The kids loved this

Mixed Grill

Grilled Prawn - Not for kids. Rather spicy

Shish Kebab - This is a must on our table. We ordered 5!

Some of our drinks - Blueberry ice blended, strawberry juice & iced lemon tea. Another hit was of course their Arabic Tea which I did not snap.

Entertaining the kids while waiting for food.

Pretty sure they didn't realise me focusing my lens.

As the saying goes " Kenyang perut, Senang hati"

Hmm... did you 2 toddlers eat?

Wonder when our next get together will be. I have nothing against the food here but it'd be great if we try out another place... ;-)

Mamak Bistro, USJ 9

Even after like almost 16 years, I am still in contacts with my high school buddies. Recently, we had another small gathering at our regular hangout - Mamak Bistro. On how the place became our rendezvous, it's got to be our favourite menu. This cafe serves the best tandoori chicken & cheese nan in town.

The grilled chicken is not dry. The texture is smooth& juicy. Plus the tandoori paste is just perfect. Not too spicy.

Here is the cheese nan. Most places merely put the cheese onto the nan bread. This will look something like plain pizza with cheese. What I like about the cheese nan here is how the cheese is hidden inside the nan. So, the cheesy taste is preserved inside.

We really had a great time there. Besides the food is of course the company. I always look forward to hang out with them. Telling our school years tales & sharing jokes. Those are like the best remedy to a stay at home mother like me. A chance to socialize & have fun without the kids.

These are some of my good friends hanging out at Mamak Bistro.

Dusit Thai, Sunway Pyramid

We went to visit my parent in-laws in Klang on Monday. Wanted to take them to the seafood restaurant in Port Klang. However, both my brother & sister in-law had another place in mind. So instead of dining at Port Klang we drove further up to Sunway Pyramid.

My brother in-law family was around too. It was altogether a party of 10 adults, 3 children & 2 toddlers. We had to pass on the round tables. Opted for long tables. I think it was 3 tables joint together.

I am not really a big fan of steamboat. But the restaurant really had varieties choices of steamboat. Too bad did not get the permission to shoot.

For those who are not familiar with steamboat dining, this is the big cooker with 2 partitions normally used for steaming (well, it's rather boiling to me, because most of the time we forgot to cover the pot). Two different types of soup poured onto each partition. One was obviously the famous tom yam in Thai cuisine & another I think was chicken soup. Raw foods like, squids, shrimps, fish, chicken, beef, crab you name it including processed foods like fish cakes & chicken balls were boiled inside the soup desired. Once cooked, it was deliciously eaten with the special sauce. I prefer the sauce hot with little bit of sweetness. The sauce provided in the restaurant did not really agree to my tongue.

Here is HB helping himself to the yummy delicacies in the pot

Here was what he found...

Wardah eating the noodle which was also steamed in the pot

Balqis was busy with her coconut drink instead of the food

If you ask me the food there was merely okay.No doubt of the freshness. Steamboat is just not my cup of tea!
