1, 2 &...?

I know... I am supposed to continue with the KK Journal. In the process, yes. Lots of photos to upload. However, I hate leaving my blog static at 1 entry. So, here goes one before I publish the remaining of KK.

Remember Balqis & her m, a, ma.. t, a, ta..? (You can read it here). Well, now not only that she can recognise numbers but is also able to manipulate her counting. I couldn't believe my ears really but it was so attractively cunning of her....

OK, it was the other day when HB was distributing some vitamins supplementary for the girls. She loves those chewy vitamins, in fact almost all medicine mixture too. Never gave me headache with medicine, this one. Obediently would open her mouth to any medicine prescribed to her.

Well, as usual it is really her who will remind us about the vitamins. HB was chosen by her that day to play dispenser. He gave 3 to Wardah who happened to be there & arranged another 6 on his palm. He asked Balqis to take only 3 & this girl started pointing to each of the vitamins & began counting.

One... Two...Th... hesitated but continued with Four... Five... Six... THREE!

HB & I were stunned. Looked at each other & burst out laughing. Balqis was smiling away cheekily. It was so obvious that she purposely counted wrongly for wanting to have all 6 of the vitamins to herself. At that young age trying to confuse her parents with her shrewd counting... Did she get all 6? Of course no! We both then counted loudly to her 1, 2 , 3!!! & gave the remaining 3 of the vitamins to Yasmin instead. Hehehe...

Ja,
Funny betul budak-budak kan?

You know what, there's one way to teach a child to count. I tried it with my Hanis. She was 2y5mo when she started counting 1 to 17. Why 17? Coz everytime I held her hands up the stairs, I'd count each step LOUDly. And she followed what I said. The maids and her sisters would do the same with her.

So kira lah, satu hari berapa kali naik tangga turun tangga... lama-lama hafallah jugak..hehe..

Hello Kak Ja,
Mmg funny diorg ni... Ingat mama tak tau what she had in mind. The way she smiled whilst counting pun I dah agak something was coming.

Exactly. I did the same thing with my girls. Tapi yg tak larat tu bila we are in hurry kena juga mengira with them ;-)

Hello Jabishah, your daughter has got the makings of a very good Chartered accountant. Ha ha.
She's cute too....its fun to see kids growing up and learning same time amusing their parents.
Have fun with your kids, Lee.

Cute. Smart girl...But, Mom and Dad are smarter ;) Hahaha!

Does she "cut-short" on the counting if it's something that she doesn't like or want to take, then?

And tumpang lalu -

DDI @ Ja,

Hey...I did the same thing, too, with my kids - counting each step on the stairs every time we go up and down! :)

Hi Kak Shana,
Balqis is the most independent of all my girls. She not only manipulate in her counting but other things too. Am monitoring how far does she go doing it...
Yes, I use the steps of stairs counting method too ;-) Also the anatomy lesson during shower. Did you?
Take care.
